This device is intended for single-patient use in noninvasive breathing circuits, providing comfort to patients struggling with peak inspiratory flow, particularly with nasal pillow-type interfaces. Ensure the flow-generating device is turned off before removing the V̇-Com device from the package and placing it in the noninvasive breathing circuit, between the hose from the flow-generating device and the patient interface (mask). Verify all fittings are secure before turning on the flow-generating device.
The V̇-Com device should be cleaned (or replaced) after each use or 24-hour period, as per the instructions provided. Once the patient develops tolerance, the V̇-Com device may be removed from the breathing circuit. Single patient use is required, and the device should not be attempted to be sterilized. Instead, use the provided cleaning instructions.
Before each use, visually inspect the V̇-Com device to ensure the airflow path is not obstructed. It is important to note that the V̇-Com device may affect algorithms for auto-titration and respiratory event detection. To minimize this possibility, do not place the V̇-Com device in an active breathing circuit. First, turn the flow-generating device off, place the V̇-Com device in the breathing circuit, and then turn the flow-generating device on. The V̇-Com device has not been tested in adaptive servo-ventilation breathing circuits.
To clean the V̇-Com device, wash it with soap (e.g., liquid dish soap) and water, inserting a small, bristled brush in both ends to penetrate and clean the complete airflow path. Twist the brush several times, rinse with clean water, and let it air dry. Inspect for any damage or residue, and if found, reclean or replace the device.
Due to the sterilization of the product, this item may not be returned once the package has been opened, for the safety and overall health benefit of the user.
The V-Com by SleepRes is designed for new patients of PAP systems to become acclimated and comfortable with their new routine. It improves early tolerance by providing the initial comfort without compromising treatment. However, if the user is already used to their PAP system and sleep routine, this device may not be beneficial.
The V-Com effect is flow-dependent, with its maximum comforting effect during the high inspiratory flows. As a result, the V-Com has minimal effect on expiratory positive airway pressure. Most people will develop tolerance to the peak flows and pressures of PAP therapy over a period of weeks or months, and there's no need to remove the V-Com as it's designed to make the therapy more comfortable.
